Our speaker, Paul McNellis, S.J., PhD’93, of the Boston College philosophy department, is himself a Vietnam veteran. Before becoming a Jesuit priest he underwent Special Forces, Ranger, and Airborne training and, as an Infantryman, was assigned to South Vietnamese forces in Vietnam. He says Vietnam Vets have been hearing for over 50 years that the US involvement in Vietnam was just one big mistake, a waste of time, that we never should have been there. Fr. McNellis, based on his experience both as a soldier and a priest, will explain why he disagrees with that assessment.
